Finished knitting hat

Finished this hat!  I crocheted the brim in ribbing and knitted the rest in stockinette with a circular needle.  Easy, easy, easy!  And quick!

General instructions:

  • Chain about 20-25, depending on how tall you want the brim.
  • Turn and crochet in the back loop.
  • Continue until the piece will fit around the head it’s going to be worn on.
  • Stitch the beginning and the end row together to form a head band.   (If you want to do on straights omit this step and sew the seam when you are all done knitting the hat. )
  • Use a (circular) knitting needle to pick up one stitch for each row of crochet.
  • Knit round (stockinette) until the piece measures about 7 inches from the bottom edge of the folded brim.
  • Next row, *K7, K2 tog, repeat from *.  (if using straights P every other one of these rows till end of hat)
  • Next row, *K6, K2 tog, repeat from *,
  • Next row, *K5, K2 tog, repeat from *,
  • Next row, *K4, K2 tog, repeat from *,
  • Next row, *K3, K2 tog, repeat from *,
  • Next row, *K2, K2 tog, repeat from *,
  • Next row, *K1, K2 tog, repeat from *,
  • Last row *K2 tog, repeat from*.
  • Cut yarn leaving a few inches.
  • Put the remaining stiches on a darning needle and pull tight.
  • Weave in ends.

I’ve never written a pattern before, so please forgive me if I suck at it.
